EDUCATION

Our school systems are made up of the Dublin City School System, Laurens County School System, Trinity Christian School, Heart of Georgia Technical College, and Georgia College and State Univ.- Dublin Campus.

Dublin City Schools: Dublin school system is 1 senior high school, 1 junior high school, 5 elementary schools and 1 kindergarden school.

Georgia College and State University- Dublin Campus: Georgia College & State University cooperates with two other University System institutions at the Dublin Campus to provide graduate courses and programs. Housed in the renovated former Laurens Memorial Hospital building, Dublin Campus offers modern classrooms, laboratories, snack and lounge areas, a library, and faculty and administrative offices. The Dublin Campus offers graduate degree programs in education and business, to include:

Dublinair Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Shriver Management and Watkins Personal Care are providers of assisted living for the elderly.

Carl A. Vinson V.A. Medical Center
The 339 operating-bed facility provides both acute and extended care services and has approximately 750 employees providing comprehensive health care to veterans in Middle and South Georgia.

HCA Fairview Park Hospital
Recently ranked as one of the 100 Top Hospitals in America, HCA Fairview Park Hospital is a state-of-the-art, 190 bed acute care facility providing community health care services including more than 40 departments and specialty areas.

RECREATION

Dublin-Laurens County Recreation Authority offers youth, adult, and senior adult programs, and athletic programs. The Recreation Authority completed Phase II of the Southern Pines Recreation Complex in the Spring of 2004. Phase I was completed in the fall of 2001. Southern Pines is a first-class facility for the residents of Laurens County as well as being utilized for state-wide tournaments. The construction budget for Phases I and II was $4 million dollars and provides for soccer, football, youth baseball, & youth and adult softball. There’s also a nature trail and picnic area. Future plans include a tennis complex, and community and aquatic center along with additional nature trail and picnic areas.  

The Hugh M. Gillis Public Fishing Area opened August 2003, and has a 109-acre lake with a variety of fish, boat ramp, fishing pier, and picnic tables. The Oconee River, that runs through the county, also provides fishing and boating.
